Look through them carefully, removing any debris, or discolored or misshapen beans. Drain well.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Put beans in large saucepan. Add enough cold water to cover the beans with an extra 2 inches of water over the top of the beans. Bring to a full boil and boil 2 minutes. Turn off heat and let the beans stand for 2 hours. Drain and rinse well.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Rinse the saucepan and return the drained soaked beans to the pan. Add the remaining ingredients. Heat to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer, and partly cover the pan.
