{"id":1511,"date":"2014-06-17T07:29:52","date_gmt":"2014-06-17T12:29:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/waltonspot.com\/lowsodium\/?page_id=1511"},"modified":"2014-06-17T07:32:43","modified_gmt":"2014-06-17T12:32:43","slug":"honey-chicken","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/waltonspot.com\/lowsodium\/recipes\/poultry\/honey-chicken\/","title":{"rendered":"Honey Chicken"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This recipe was adapted from http:\/\/www.food.com\/recipe\/honey-chicken-oriental-51977<\/p>\n<p>It uses 3 Tablespoons of the no-sodium soy sauce substitute. <a title=\"Soy Sauce Substitute\" href=\"http:\/\/waltonspot.com\/lowsodium\/recipes\/sauces\/soy-sauce-substitute\/\" target=\"_blank\">Click here for the recipe.<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"easyrecipe\" data-rating=\"#rating#\">\n<div class=\"item ERName\">Honey Chicken<\/div>\n<div class=\"ERClear\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"ERHead\">Serves: <span class=\"yield\">4<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"ERIngredients\">\n<div class=\"ERIngredientsHeader\">Ingredients<\/div>\n<ul class=\"ingredients\">\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into thin strips<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 Tbsp vegetable oil<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">3\/4 cup no-salt beef or chicken bullion<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 tsp Mrs Dash Chicken Grilling mix<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">2 Tbsp flour<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">3 tsp honey<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">3 Tbsp soy sauce substitute (see recipe)<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">3 Tbsp red wine vinegar<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 tsp ground ginger<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/2 tsp garlic powder<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/8 tsp black pepper<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">2 carrots, scraped and sliced into very thin strips<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 medium onion, cut into eighths<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 medium bell pepper, cut in quarter inch strips<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">(optional) 8 oz can sliced water chestnuts, drained<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ERInstructions\">\n<div class=\"ERInstructionsHeader\">Instructions<\/div>\n<div class=\"instructions\">\n<ol>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Stir-fry chicken until lightly browned. Drain excess oil.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">In a small bowl, combine bullion, flour, honey, soy sauce, vinegar, ginger, garlic powder, and pepper. Stir until well mixed and smooth.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Slowly pour sauce mixture over chicken in the skillet. Heat and stir over medium-high heat until thickened.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Reduce heat to medium-low, cover skillet\/wok, and simmer for 10 minutes.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add carrot strips and simmer for 10 more minutes.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Stir in onion and bell pepper (and optional water chestnuts, if desired.)
