- 6 pieces of chicken
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- Barbecue Sauce (your favorite)
- Preheat oven to 400.
- Lightly grease a baking dish.
- Place the onion slices in the bottom of the baking dish. Then place the chicken, meaty side up, in on top of the onion slices (don’t overlap the chicken pieces) Spoon barbecue sauce over each piece.
- Bake until chicken is done and juices run clear, about 45 minutes, spooning more sauce on top of the chicken half-way through cooking time.
- When the chicken is done, remove from the oven and let it rest about 5 minutes. Serve with additional sauce on the side.
The sodium in the barbecue sauce you select will determine whether or not this is a low-sodium dish.If you use fresh chicken with only 3% sodium per serving (instead of chicken that has been infused with a high-sodium broth), we estimate that the chicken will provide 60 mg of sodium per 4 oz serving. You will need to add the sodium of your barbecue sauce to determine whether your dish is low-sodium.
