Beef Goulash
- 2 cups rotini, or other pasta
- 1 Tbsp olive oil (needed only if you use very lean ground beef)
- 1 lb very lean ground beef
- ½ cup onions, chopped
- ½ lb mushrooms, sliced
- ½ cup bell pepper, chopped
- 2 stalks of celery
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ tsp Mrs Dash Steak Grilling seasoning
- 1 can no-salt-added tomato sauce
- 1 cup no-salt ketchup
- ½ cup water.
- ½ tsp oregano
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp basil
- 1 tsp sugar.
- Cook pasta as directed on the package, al-dente but omit the salt. Drain and rinse.
- While pasta is cooking, cook the meat mixture:
- Heat a large skillet to medium high. If you are using very lean ground beef, add 1 Tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil. Add crumbled ground beef, mushrooms, onions, pepper, celery, garlic, and Mrs. Dash Steak Grilling seasoning.
- Cook until the beef is lightly browned and not pink in the center.
- Add remaining ingredients except for the pasta. Stir well, cover, and simmer gently for 15 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
- Stir cooked, drained, and rinsed pasta into the meat mixture. Simmer 5 more minutes.
