Meat and Mushroom Skillet
 
Ingredients
  • 1 lb lean ground meat (beef, chicken, or turkey)
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cups mushrooms (any variety), sliced
  • 2 Tbsp fresh chopped basil OR 2 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp Mrs Dash Steak Seasoning blend
  • ½ cup no sodium beef broth
  • 2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar OR Marsala wine
  • 2 Tbsp no sodium Worcestershire sauce substitute OR low sodium Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
  1. Heat a large non-stick skillet to medium-high heat. Cook ground meat for 8-10 minutes until no pink remains in the middle, breaking the meat into crumbles with spatula. Drain, remove from skillet, and set aside
  2. Add the olive oil to the skillet and cook the garlic and onion for 2-3 minutes. Add mushrooms and continue to cook for 5 more minutes.
  3. Return the cooked meat to the skillet. Stir in the basil, Mrs Dash, broth, vinegar (or wine), and Worcestershire sauce. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally. Then reduce heat and simmer until the liquid has reduced, about 6 minutes, continuing to stir occasionally.
  4. Serve over unsalted rice or pasta.
