No Salt Breakfast Sausage 3
- 1 lb ground beef, pork, or turkey
- 1 tsp fennel seeds
- 1 tsp ground sage OR 2 tsp rubbed sage
- 1 tsp dried thyme powder
- ½ tsp ground nutmeg
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp crushed red pepper
- ½ tsp paprika
- ¼ cup cold water
- Place the fennel seed in a plastic bag and pound them a few times so they are lightly crushed (or put on a cutting board and finely chop with a sharp knife).
- Put all ingredients except the ground meat in a small bowl and stir until well mixed.
- Sprinkle the seasoning mix on the ground meat and mix well. Cover and place in the refrigerator overnight before cooking.
- To freeze: make into patties, separate each patty with plastic wrap or freezer paper, and freeze in a freezer bag.
- To cook: Form the sausage into thin patties or break into chunks. Cook in a medium-high skillet until cooked through with no pink remaining.
