Easy Cheeseburger Pie
- 1 lb very lean ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- ½ cup bell pepper, chopped
- 4 oz shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- ½ cup all-purpose flour OR white whole wheat flour
- ¾ tsp low-sodium baking powder
- 1 tsp Mrs Dash Steak Grilling seasoning
- ½ tsp dry mustard
- 1 cup skim milk
- 2 Tbsp vegetable oil, plus more to oil the pie pan.
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Lightly oil the bottom and sides of a 9-inch deep-dish pie pan or a 10-inch pie pan with vegetable oil.
- Cook ground beef, onion, and bell pepper over medium high heat until meat is brown and cooked through (no pink inside). Drain off the fat. Set aside.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, Mrs Dash Steak Grilling Seasoning, dry mustard, and pepper in a medium bowl. Slowly add in milk, whisking to combine. Then whisk in the vegetable oil and eggs.
- Add ½ of cheese to meat mixture and stir to combine. Spoon in meat mixture. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top of the meat. Slowly pour the milk/flour mixture evenly over the pie.
- Bake for 25-35 minutes, or until the pie is golden brown and bubbly. Remove from oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
