Very flavorful low sodium Stir-Fry for vegetables (and optional meat)
This recipe uses the No Sodium Sweet and Spicy Stir Fry Sauce recipe
Sweet Spicy Stir Fry
Serves: 4
Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
- Optional: Lemon Pepper Seasoning blend OR Mrs Dash Chicken Grilling Seasoning blend
- Optional: 1 lb meat thawed and patted dry: skinless boneless chicken cut into bite sided pieces, tilapia filets, OR 1 lb peeled and deveined raw shrimp
- 2 cups raw vegetables of your choice, cut into bite-sided pieces (for example, a mixture of any of the following: celery, onions, carrots, broccoli florets, cauliflower florets, mushrooms)
- 1 recipe of the no-sodium sweet and spicy stir fry sauce (see recipe)
Instructions
Make the sauce (see recipe) while you stir-fry the vegetables and optional meat.
Heat the oil to medium high in a large non-stick skillet or wok.
To cook the optional meat:
- If you are including chicken in your dish: sprinkle the chicken pieces Mr Dash Chicken Grilling Seasoning blend and then stir-fry it until cooked through with no pink inside. Transfer it to a plate and cover with aluminum foil to keep warm while you cook the vegetables.
- If you are including fish or shrimp in your dish, sprinkle it with Lemon Pepper seasoning and then fry it until opaque throughout, flipping halfway through. Transfer it to a plate, covering with aluminum foil to keep warm while you stir-fry the vegetables.
To cook the vegetables:
- Stir-fry until crisp tender.
To finish:
- Add the meat (if any) to the skillet. Pour the sauce over all, and gently stir to mix. Bring the sauce to a boil. Then turn off the heat and let it sit for 1 minute so the flavors can mix.
- Serve over rice or pasta.

Serving size: ¾ cup. The only sodium in this dish is from the vegetables and the optional meat (if any).
