Caribbean Barbecue Sauce

This very low sodium savory Caribbean Barbecue Sauce is great with chicken, fish, or pork. It uses our recipe for no-sodium Worcestershire sauce substitute.

Caribbean Barbecue Sauce
Serves: 16
 
Ingredients
  • 1 (8 oz) can no-salt-added tomato sauce
  • ½ cup unsweetened pineapple juice
  • ½ tsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp lime juice
  • ¼ cup + 1 Tbsp no-salt-added tomato paste
  • ¼ cup + 1 Tbsp no-salt Worcestershire substitute (see recipe)
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1½ tsp chili powder
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper
Instructions
  1. Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan.
  2. Bring mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes.
  3. Allow the sauce to cool. Then refrigerate until you are ready to use it. (It will also freeze well.)
