Peach, Apple, or Pear Crisp

This is an easy dessert with no sodium. It works well with fresh or frozen fruit: peaches, apples, or pears.

Fruit Crisp for Peaches, Apples, or Pears
Serves: 8
 
Ingredients
  • 4 cups apples, peaches, or pears (pitted and sliced)
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup all-purpose or whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup quick cooking or old-fashioned oats
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg (for peaches) OR ¾ tsp cinnamon and ¾ tsp nutmeg (for apples or pears)
Instructions
  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Spray bottom and sides of an 8 x 8 casserole dish or baking pan with cooking spray.
  2. Mix ¼ cup of the brown sugar and ½ of the spices. Combine with the sliced fruit, stirring to evenly coat the fruit.
  3. Place the fruit mixture in the baking dish. In a medium bowl, mix together all remaining ingredients. Crumble this topping evenly on top of the fruit mixture.
  4. Bake in pre-heated oven for about 30 minutes, until fruit is bubbly and tender and topping is golden brown.
